Rotary Christmas walk for Rotarians, family and friends
Monday 28th December 2015

The group enjoying the talk given by Tim Barker

On Monday the 28th December members and friends of the Rotary Club of Church Wilne enjoyed a wonderful walk organised by John Cox and Peter Woods around the fields and countryside of Draycott.

Starting at 10.00 am at Bankfield Farm they followed the river Derwent which meandered slowly and towards Ambaston and Shardlow. Rotarian Tim Barker gave the group several talks about the history of the region which included details of how over the past 60 years to river had changed its course by almost 300 yards at one point.

The route took in Hall Farm and continued down to Church Wilne before returning back via the Coffin walk and back into Draycott before finishing back at Bankfield farm just before 1.00pm

Many retired then for drinks and food at a local hostelry.
