Rotary Christmas walk for Rotarians, family and friends
Tuesday 27th December 2015

The annual Christmas walk will start from The Marquis of Ormonde public house and restaurant (35 Codnor Denby Lane, Cross Hill, Ripley DE5 9SP) where the landlord has kindly agreed for us to use the car park.

Starting at 9.30am prompt the walk takes us first to the 'Waingroves Community Wood' where Paul Cox, John's brother, will explain about the woodland trust and how it was formed. For people interested there may be a possibility of seeing red endangered Willow Tits which have started breading there. From the wood we walk over ground used by Butterley Brick Company and will be able to view the clay pit currently being used to mine for brick clay.

Our aim is to be back at the pub by mid day where there is a good variety of homely food available for anyone wanting to eat out. It comes highly recommended as you can see from the web site.

The walk has several moderate stiles but it is easy walking through both open wooded areas and about five miles. As usual suitable walking clothing and footwear is a must as there could well be muddy areas.

Contacts for the day are Peter Woods and John Cox.

In the unlikely event that the weather is too severe for the walk to commence an email will be sent out by 8am.
