The mayor's role includes chair of the Borough Council, representing the council and the community at outside engagements, presiding at or hosting civic functions organised by the Council. Also helping to raise money for charities.

Kewal said he was proud to be given the opportunity to serve Erewash Borough and work with many organisations like Rotary to make a difference.

The Club's vote of thanks was given by Barry Austin who said he had first met Kewal over 20 years ago and he had always been a good friend and caring neighbour. We all wish you well for your year as our Mayor.
