President Tony Beenham, on behalf of the members of the Club, welcomed all our guests and visitors. There were to 46 guests and visitors joining the 43 Club members, following it's very successful annual Horse Ride Event held on 13th September which raised just over £9,000.

This included many sponsors, the land owners and farmers who allow the use of their land for this event, and other guests and visitors who have played an important role in the Horse Ride this year.

Firstly he welcomed Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Willie Tucker and his wife Jill. "Willie is a great supporter of our Club and in fact he was a member many years ago before his retirement from work. Willie and Jill were members of Round Table and Ladies Circle before they were kicked out at the age of 40 a few years ago ( ! ) and this is the reason why they have so many friends here tonight"

Another supporter of the Club is our District Governor Dr. Roger Summers and he and his wife Pauline were with us at this year's event and were very impressed indeed with the organisation and marshalling.

Tony continued by saying "Before welcoming our Sponsors who are here this evening I would just like to publicly thank Andrew Evans and Manor Pharmacy for being our Main Sponsors in 2015. Manor Pharmacy treats your pets as part of the family and promotes animal health with low price veterinary medicines".

He continued by welcoming Graham and Karen Cresswell, owners of KARYGRAY Horse Feeds.

Other sponsors present included Davy and Teresa Hudson, owners of Hudson Wealth Management, Steve Martin and Ian Johnson from Ashgates, Past President Colin Orrick a business sponsor of the Horse Ride since 2006 and Jean and Sally from the Royal Oak in Ockbrook.

Another former member of our Club John Kirk is the MD of Wilsons Pharmacies which has been business sponsors since 2006.

Richard Ransom was the organiser of the Horse Ride Event for 7 years from 2006 through to 2012 and it is entirely due to his foresight and brilliant organisation skills in the past that we are here tonight. The Club will always be grateful to Richard, as will many charities, since the total amount raised by the Club at the event has now reached a staggering £44,700. It would be very near to £50,000 if the profits from the Inner Wheel Catering Tent were included.

Others thanked by Tony included Margaret Wagstaff and her partner Allan Perkins and also Mary Sissons and her son Andrew and wife Nicky and Philip and Denise Archer.

Tony continued by thanking the many Landowners including the magic Barker duo, Errol and Margaret Scott, John and Dee Hollingworth and our Club Members Michael Massie and his wife Mary, Geoff Brown and his wife Rosemary, who as owners of Bluebells Ice Creams, were very generous donors to the Inner Wheel Catering Tent at the Horse Ride.

Also welcomed were Paul and Avril Scott, Emma Fogg, Hazel Johnson and the Vice Chairman of the Derbyshire County Show Richard Hollis and his partner Emma Rushton.

After Dinner I am going to ask Richard Hollis to present a cheque for £1620 to the Air Ambulance most of which was raised by us at the exit collection and at the Dice Game at the County Show. We are very grateful to the Show Committee for allowing us to rattle the Air Ambulance buckets at the exit gates.

Tony welcomed once again Collette Richardson from Air Ambulance and for the first time Rotarian Mary Rose from Treetops Hospice Care.

After enjoying a meal Tony made the presentations to this year's chosen charities.

Collette who is the local fund raising Coordinator for the Air Ambulance Service gave a brief overview of the Air Ambulance and said that each mission currently costs £1,700 and in 2014 they completed 100 more missions than in 2013. She also spoke about their new rapid response vehicle and said this is now often used in the night. Tony presented Collette with a cheque for £4,620.62 along with a cheque for £1,620 from the Derbyshire County Show.

Mary Rose is the local Community and Events Fundraiser for Treetops and she spoke about the recent changes and improvements of Treetops Hospice Care before receiving a cheque for £4,402.28 and £848.25 following Tony's Denmark to Paris sponsored bike ride in July.
