Speaker meeting 1st February 2016
Youth Recognition Award and Clarinet Recital

Eliza Pound entertaining the members accompanied by Greg

The members of the Rotary Club of Church Wilne were delighted to welcome Eliza Pound to their meeting at the Royal Oak in Ockbrook on Monday 1st February to receive the Club's Youth Recognition Award.

Eliza was introduced by club member Greg Maskalick who said that she had, at the age of 7, helped her dad with a local soup kitchen. She had organized cake sales at her local church to raise funds for the soup kitchen. Helped her grandparents with their charity work and in 2010 visited Ireland at Christmas and met 40 Filipino fishermen and took them all a present. For the last two years she had, every Sunday, been a swimming support teacher. Also Eliza at Christmas can be seen singing carols around the wards at the QMC.

President Tony Beenham presented the club's "Youth Recognition Award" and a gift.

Eliza, with the support of Greg, then entertained the members on the Clarinet with three jazz numbers which were – Night Train, Alice in Wonderland and Don't get around anymore.

In his vote of thanks, Graham Markwell said "You are a very confident young lady who has played three difficult pieces very well and beside your school work you have managed to do so many charitable things which is a real accolade"
