Speaker meeting 22nd February 2016
Rhiannon Hulse - Safe & Sound, Fighting CSE

Rhiannon Hulse being thanked by President Tony Beenham

The Rotary Club of Church Wilne welcomed Rhiannon Hulse to the recent speaker evening. Rhiannon gave a thought-provoking presentation into the excellent work carried out by "Safe and Sound Fighting CSE".

The organisation works to keep children safe from sexual exploitation. A child from any gender, culture, ethnicity, religion or social background is at risk from this form of abuse. They offer a wide range of services, ranging from one-to-one support for young people at risk of abuse, to preventative education and awareness raising in schools and other settings nationally. Their work can be viewed on their web site: http://safeandsoundgroup.org.uk. Alternatively, they can be called on 01332 362120 and be found at First Floor, East Mill, Darley Abbey Mills, Darley Abbey, Derby DE22 1DZ.

During the evening, Rhiannon shared some interesting films prepared and edited by the children depicting potentially dangerous situations which could lead to child abuse. The reason for creating the films was to educate everyone about the risks of seemingly innocent situations which can place young people in danger. The Rotary Club members learnt to be vigilant and have a general awareness of the dangers of abuse.
