Club Assembly

Andris Mierkalns meets President Tony Beenham

On Monday 20th June the members of the Rotary Club of Church Wilne welcomed Rotarian Andris Mierkalns from the Long Eaton Dawnbreakers Rotary Club, who was representing District 1220 at the Club's annual assembly. This meeting presents the plans for the forthcoming Rotary year by each of the club's committee. The new Rotary year commences on 1st July when Simon Beal will become the president of Church Wilne RC.

Having heard from the clubs nine committees Andris then gave the following observations. Rotary is a global team and the largest humanitarian organization and is well able to do good through one deed at a time each day. On membership he said that the average age in RGBI is approaching 75 and rising so it is important to not only retain members but add new younger members.

Andris congratulated the club on its use of social media such as website, Facebook, Twitter and continued by saying it is important to demonstrate to non-Rotarians just what Rotary can and does do.

Incoming President Simon Beal with Andris Mierkalns

Rotary Central world wide is soon to be launched which will give a data base of all clubs achievements and activities.

He congratulated the club on its high profile at last years District Conference at Southport and wished incoming president Simon Beal and all the members best wishes for the new Rotary year commencing on the 1st July.
