On Monday 3rd October Church Wilne Rotarians were given an informative insight into what two of their members do under the role of District 1220 Assistant District Governors (ADG).

Graham Markwell gave an overview of the district which now has 71 clubs from Castle Donington to Barnsley and Ashbourne to Gainsborough. Graham has 8 clubs under his wing in the Erewash group and Greg 7 clubs in the Central group.

Each ADG is elected annually and can serve for 3 years and the election process was explained.

Greg spoke about the responsibilities and challenges of the ADG which requires a lot of time and energy. They support the clubs within their group, attending functions and club meetings as much as possible and monitoring their progress towards the goals set by Rotary Central. He said that mentoring each club was different and whilst a lot of work is involved it is most rewarding.

Graham in summary said "when you first take on the role you are given good training from Rotary International and you also help to train incoming club presidents".

The club's vote of thanks was given by Annette Rittig who said that Graham and Greg's insight into the workings of the ADG had been most enjoyable and informative.
