Collecting for Charity
December 2019

The Rotary Club's 49 members and friends were very busy in December helping Santa on his trips around the local villages. There were 6 evening trips with the Carolling Christmas Sleigh around the streets in Borrowash, Ockbrook and Draycott. 4 static collections in supermarkets in Borrowash, Chaddesden, Oakwood and Long Eaton. 4 visits to Santa's Grotto at Collyer's Nursery and a visit to the Draycott Lights Switch-On. 15 days in total but no snow. The collections totalled just over £6,400 and all this amount will be given to local good causes over the next 12 months.

In addition to the presence of Santa's Christmas Sleigh at Draycott Lights Switch-On on 3rd December, the Hot Roast Pork Stall was run by Club Member Gary Dundas and the profit of £765 was donated to the Rotary Club's Local Charity Account.

Church Wilne Rotary is keen to attract new members through various initiatives, associate membership, satellite clubs and Friends of Rotary, where people can help in the running of some of our events to get a taste of what it would be like to join our club.
