Speaker Meeting 2nd March 2020

Ade Fleet
Bee Inspired Project - All Saints Church, Ockbrook

Ade Fleet, from the "Bee Inspired Project" at All Saints Church, Ockbrook was the Club's speaker on 2 March. He gave an inspiring talk on the Bee Inspired Project, a play on words relating to the Church Spire, to raise awareness of the plans for All Saints Church, which serves Ockbrook and Borrowash, and to raise funds.

The plan to also use the Church as a Community Building supporting local groups including Scouts, Guides, Brownies etc, is fully supported by Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby, who became the first Church of England's female Bishop in 2015.

The Church spire dates back to 1100 and is currently subject to major maintenance. Unfortunately, the Church roof was recently damaged and repairs are underway.

The Bee Inspired team are raising funds by building a scaled lollipop stick model of the Church which will be on permanent display in the Church. The local Co-op have been very supportive by allowing the team to organise a collection over Christmas and also in March. Lollipop sticks can be bought for £1.50 each and then signed by the donor for inclusion in the model. Rotarians from Church Wilne were keen after the talk to buy lollipop sticks for inclusion in the model.
