Continued Support for Safe and Sound, Derby
Charity Abseil

29th February 2020

Safe and Sound is a Derby based charity which supports children who are victims of sexual exploitation or who are at significant risk of being exploited.

On 29th February, Church Wilne Rotarian Prof. John Walker took the Safe and Sound 'Leap of Faith' Charity Abseil Challenge off the Millers Dale Bridge near Buxton. He completed two drops to raise funds for Safe and Sound.

John shared that experience on a very cold day with the BAFTA winning actress Molly Windsor who has done much to promote awareness of the dangers of Child Exploitation through her appearance in the television drama 'Three Girls'. Molly is now supporting and acting as an Ambassador for the Safe and Sound Charity. She stood up to the challenge on 29th February and also abseiled off the 80 foot Viaduct.

Church Wilne Rotary were very happy to send a donation of £300 to the Charity following John's exploits which meant that the event raised over £12,000. It will make a huge difference to the children that Safe and Sound are working with locally.
