Llandudno District 1220 Conference - October 2014

Members, wives and partners of Church Wilne Rotary Club enjoyed a weekend away in Wales supporting our 43rd District Conference in Llandudno.

As at last years event in Scarborough, we were again fortunate with sunny weekend weather, allowing a good walk around the seaside town and to the organised events.

Friday we all met up for a meal at Mamma Rosa Italian Restaurant and enjoyed really good food and fun, followed by a Country Music style Hoe Down event at the Conference.

Saturday we enjoyed the conference proper. Some expressive speakers providing an insight into better ways of advertising the excellent work that Rotary provides to the community and Internationally, a young local Ambassadorial Scholar who benefited from an intensive year in China, learning the language and now setting up local business outlets with links to Chinese businesses, a moving report on Sand dams and the benefit to improved life in Africa.

Saturday afternoon we all enjoyed free time, either exploring the seaside town, visiting the Great Orme or the topical War museum

Saturday evening we enjoyed a Gala night meal followed by music, cabaret, dancing and fun with "That'll be the Day"

Sunday continued with morning prayer, RI representative Larry Labadie, and his wife, discussing their involvement into World Peace, our western world materialistic concept in relation to 3rd world poverty, and finally the zany World according to Geoff MacKey. A very humourus insight into the power of communication, energy, sustainability and thought provoking issues within Rotary.
