Charity Horse Ride
Sunday 13th September 2015

The Rotary Club of Church Wilne held for the tenth year running its Charity Horse Ride on Sunday 13th September with sunny weather throughout.

The course consisted of bridleway, tracks, road and farmland not normally available to the public through beautiful countryside and was approximately 10 miles long. Jumps were also available on the farmland.

The organization of the event starts 10 months before the day and involves many club members throughout. The 249 happy riders were supported by over 90 Rotary club members, family & friends who ensured every rider enjoyed this special day

Special thanks were given to the Club's farmers for the preparation of the course and also to the Inner Wheel Club of Church Wilne who provided the hot food throughout.

At the finish riders received rosettes and a soft or wine drink. Hot food and soft drinks were also available from 9.00 am onwards. Many positive and favourable comments have been received from the riders which can been seen on the Club's Facebook site.

The main sponsor this year was Manor Pharmacy along with 27 other sponsors which can all be seen on the Club's web site.

All entry fees are to be donated equally to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance and the Treetops Hospice with over £9,000 in total raised. A presentation evening will take place on Monday 2nd November at the Trent Lock Golf Club.
