The Rotary Club of Church Wilne celebrated Burns Night at the Royal Oak in Ockbrook on Monday 25th January.

The meeting was opened by Alex Murdock who played the bagpipes. Then followed the traditional Burns night 'Selkirk Grace' spoken by Neil Sherwood.

At verious points during the evening, Rotarian Greg Maskalick spoke about the three single malt whiskeys that were to be tasted during the meal and they were Oban, Douglas and Bowmore Whiskeys.

Following the traditional piping and carving of the Haggis the members enjoyed the splendid meal created especially for them.

After the meal guest Neil Sherwood entertained the members and guests with several Scottish stories and jokes. Max Alexander spoke about Robbie Burns in 1796 and said the Burns season is from mid January to February. He also recited several poems and stories which were humorous and everyone enjoyed his contribution to a wonderful evening.

Gary Dundas gave the club's vote of thanks and thanked piper Max, Greg for the whisky donation and the speakers Max and Neil.

The meeting finished with Alex piping Auld Lang Syne and everyone joining hands and singing along with Alex.
