Paul, a former Biology teacher, felt unwell at the age of 24 and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes which he believes may have been triggered by Glandular Fever.

Paul explained to members the two different types of Diabetes (1 and 2) and the complications that go with it.

3.8 million people in the UK have diabetes
10% of NHS funds are spent on diabetes amounting to £11 billion pounds a year

An Estimated 500,000 people are diagnosed and 150,000 are undiagnosed.
One in 6 NHS beds are for Diabetes patients

With Type 2:
5m People will have it by 2025
3 out of 5 cases could be prevented

Paul highlighted that people could really help themselves by cutting down the risk of Type 2 Diabetes by Eating Well, Regular Exercise Etc.
