Speaker Meeting 20th April 2020 |
|
With the lockdown in place the Church Wilne Rotary is continuing to hold its weekly Monday evening meetings using Zoom. The speaker at the latest meeting, attended by 40 members, was the Club President Andy Cartwright, who gave a fascinating talk on Kayaking. He gained a 4 Star award in white water kayaking. He is a Level 3 Coach and has worked for the PGL in South France as lead Kayak Instructor. He spent many summers coaching kayaking for St John's Ambulance district camp. He continues to coach Scout Groups through Lincoln Water activities, as well as being part of the coaching team for the International Scout & Guides Camp. For the members of the Club who would not know a canoe from a kayak, he explained a few basics. The main difference was kneeling using a single blade in canoes and sitting with double bladed paddles in kayaks. |
