The Rotary Club of Church Wilne and its Satellite Club, welcomed the Rotary District Governor to its recent Zoom Speaker Meeting, recognising the success of the club in forming a Satellite Club and growing its membership, attracting younger people to Rotary. She gave a fascinating talk on her career as a GP in Dronfield, having trained at Sheffield Medical School, & meeting her husband during this period. She competed with 2 others in the University Boat race, coming second in the Ladies race.

Her Practice serves half of Dronfield's 20,000 residents, playing a role in teaching registrars and medical students. Jill has played an active role in the local community: starting the Welcome Club Day Centre; being a leading light in St John's Ambulance; setting up the Cardio Club; acting as Ambassador for Guides; Governor for two local schools: not to mention being Church Warden.

Initially Jill joined Inner Wheel when Rotary didn't have lady members. She was IW District 22's Overseas Chairman during the wars in the former Yugoslavia, collected goods from all the Clubs to help those caught up in the war there, was lent a warehouse for this, filling a lorry with supplies each month throughout this time. Later she became Inner Wheel District Chairman before founding Drone Valley Rotary Club. After seeing the Club established, she chaired the District Membership Committee, and then was District Secretary for 4yrs. During this time she moved to Dronfield Rotary Club, and thanks them for their great support as she has become District Governor.

Jill greatly values our Club giving children the magical moment of seeing Santa, but stresses the need for careful social distancing, to be very sure that we are COVID-19 safe and secure, with all clubs taking every possible precaution to be sure of this.
