Firfield Primary School - Eco Greenhouse

Church Wilne Rotary helps the school go Green!

Church Wilne Rotary recently supplied & built their fourth ECO Greenhouse, this time at Firfield Primary School in Breaston. The cost of the materials was kindly donated by Evans Pharmacy of Breaston, Breaston Parish Council and Breaston Co-op.

The idea for the Eco greenhouse was presented to Year 6 teacher Carol Lawson by her pupil Evie Broderick, granddaughter of Rotarian Susie Collins who leads this ongoing project.

Carol Lawson went on to say;
"Seeing the greenhouse being built and being able to be part of the build itself was an amazing experience and one that the children will never forget"......"We can't wait to start using it fully and we have big plans to use it for growing small amounts of fruit, vegetables and herbs using the sturdy planting bench that was also made for us. Thank you to Church Wilne Rotary who gave us such a fun project that ran perfectly alongside our curriculum topic 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' and engaged the whole school".

The Eco Greenhouse project helps awareness of environmental issues and will bring the children closer to nature with an opportunity to see crops grow. The school was also presented with a £250 Collyer's Nursery voucher to help them with their horticultural journey.
