Speaker Meeting 13th February 2023 |
|
The Rotary Club of Church Wilne recently welcomed DGE Richard Vergette and Chris Harris of Broxtowe Women's Project to its speaker evening, both supporting the "White Ribbon Campaign", raising awareness of Violence against Women and Girls & Domestic Abuse. Such abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of their gender, sexuality, skin colour, ethnicity, social status or any other characteristic or circumstances. Support is available to all, details of which are available on the Broxtowe women's project website: Chris explained how local employers can support the White Ribbon Campaign. Domestic abuse not only impacts the wellbeing of the person being abused, it can also affect work colleagues and the success of companies they work for. According to Chris "It is estimated that on average 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse at some stage in their lifetime". So let's not suffer in silence, please seek support. The Rotary Club of Church Wilne were moved by the plight of victims of Domestic Abuse and donated £50 to support the campaign. |
