WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Members of Church Wilne Rotary attend Remembrance Day Services
8th November 2020

In the absence of formal Remembrance Day Services in Draycott, Ockbrook and Borrowash, members of the Rotary Club of Church Wilne showed their respect for the fallen in armed conflicts throughout the years.

Normally members would join with the parishes' Services, however in this time of National Lockdown that is impossible. So a single member from the club laid a wreath at the War memorials in the villages, in compliance with the current regulations and exemptions for acts of Remembrance on Sunday 8th November 2020.

President Andy Lord placed the wreath in Draycott while Secretary David Hewitt attended the Ockbrook and Borrowash War Memorial on Victoria Avenue.

Afterwards Rotary President, Andy Lord reflected on the absence of a congregation at the War Memorial in Draycott.
"Placing the wreath alone brought forth a most poignant sense of National Sacrifice, especially in these troubled times." he observed.
