Speaker Meeting 15th November 2021

Fiona Lindop
Advances in Parkinson's Treatment

Fiona Lindop MCSP

The Rotary Club of Church Wilne welcomed Fiona Lindop to its recent Speaker Evening, she gave an enlightening talk on the treatments for Parkinson's disease. She is a specialist Parkinson's physiotherapist working as part of the multidisciplinary Parkinson's team in Derby. In 2018 she was also appointed Clinical Therapy lead for the UK Parkinson's Excellence Network.

Derby is one of only two "Centres of Excellent" in the UK, due to its focus on medication and treatment through multidisciplinary teams. Information on the treatment of this condition can be found at https://www.derbyparkinsons.com

Regular exercise may protect against the disease, it can prevent some of the disability which may result from stiffness and slowness. Recent studies have shown that exercise may even be good for the brain. So with that in mind our next social event will be Indoor Bowling at the Ilkeston Bowling Alley. https://mfabowl.com/ilkeston. It's good to combine fun with exercise.

The club presented Fiona with a cheque for £200.00 from our local fund raising activities to support their programs.

Fiona Lindop receives the cheque from President Gary

Sue Dowey, Fiona Lindop and Gary Abbott.
