Speaker Meeting 30th May 2022

A Cheese Tasting Evening with Ian Rogerson & Julia

Ian gave us a quick history of his career, growing up in a butchers household. He and his sisters only source of protein being meat. Following in his father's footsteps he became a butcher, taking over a shop in the local community and while supplying local hotels developed a taste and a business opportunity for enjoying cheese and supplying it to the local hotels and through his shop.

Ian was ably supported by Julia who helped him prepare a wide and expansive selection of cheeses for us to enjoy at the end of his talk.

A tasty range of cheeses with Ian in full flow, ably assisted by Julia.

He told many jokes throughout his talk and we were treated to a journey through the development of Stilton Cheese.
Click Here to see how Stilton is made.

Ian was unable to stock Lancashire crumbly cheese as it crumbled and resulted in lots of waste, so for those who want to have a go the following clip shows how to make Lancashire crumbly cheese - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnuGkBxp9bg

A marvellously entertaining talk.

Where the famous cheese comes from.
